THE ORPHANAGE FACILITIES

When Waltraud Bertels initially discovered the orphanage in 1998 the grounds and buildings were in disrepair and needed a significant amount of work. Over time Help for Ntoma was able to fund most of the renovations to bring the facilities to the state in which they are now.  This included not only work on the buildings, but also the construction of water tanks, the creation of a small bio-gas facility for cooking, the creation of fields to raise crops for own consumption and for sale, and much more.   In addition, an earthquake at the end of 2016 damaged some of the orphanage buildings, the repair of which were funded by Help for Ntoma.

To run the orphanage, Help for Ntoma funds almost the entire operation, including wages for the staff, clothing for the children, supplies, medical expenses, food, maintenance etc. Without this help, the orphanage would not be able to operate.
